2009: Hell of a way to end a decade

Defining what the workplace can and should be
I must say that I was completely overwhelmed by the response to my last post “Finding a way to enjoy work”. I honestly had contact from every angle: emails, direct messages, instant messages… someone even stopped me out on the street and said they liked the post.
I think it goes to show that there is a real problem with workplaces in America today. We all want a change; we are just too scared to speak out for it with the economic climate today. It is probably why so many people that I know have gone ahead and taken the risk to be self employed. I have thought seriously about it myself. If I could find a way to pay for what I want to do I would (always taking financial backers by the way).
I think we are too good of workers to put up with this. I think there is enough talent from the 20 or so people who will read this posting to compete in any industry we collectively wanted to. I would love to sit and discuss this topic with whoever wants to, fully confidential of course. I think by sharing our collective experiences we can define what the future of the workplace can and should be.
